Welcome to the website for the Ice Sports Foundation of Lane County. As stated above, our mission is to maintain, promote and support the ice sports community in Lane County.

Our intent with this site is to provide information about our current activities, provide updates to the community and donors, and report on the progress we're making toward reaching our fundraising goals to maintain ice in Lane County. We recognize this is a large task and so we are tackling it little by little.

May 2011 Update:

As reported earlier, the Lane County Board of County Commissioners (LCBOC) voted to extend the foundation's timeline for fundraising and to reopen the Lane Ice Center for the 2011-2012 ice sports season. Following this decision, the LCBOC directed the Lane Events Center (LEC) to work with Hockey Oregon, LLC to develop an enhanced agreement for operations of the rink. This agreement would expand upon the services Hockey Oregon, LLC provided this past season. While we are excited about this movement forward, there is still a great deal of work to be done.

The ISF's next target for fundraising is to replace the aging refrigeration system starting with the compressors and chillers at the Lane Ice Center. Replacing these items with new state of the art machinery would help reduce energy usage while replacing the freon refrigerant currently used in the facility.  The cost for replacing this system is estimated at $535,000. It is important to note that if the Lane Ice Center should permanently close at some point, this new system would be transportable to a new facility. This is good news because your donations won't be "wasted" should ice in Lane County move to a new facility.
